Movello: Connecting Steps to Social Impact – How ESG, Health, and Charity Come Together

September 9th, 2024

Following persons took part in the conversation: Agnieszka Orłowska, Founder ESG Institute
Dawid Pabiniak, CEO Movello

Agnieszka: Let's start from the beginning, what is Movello and who are you addressing your proposal to?

David: Instead of telling what Movello is, I would rather tell you what it will become, but that is rather a topic for another conversation. I will focus on why Movello was created, what our goal is and what we want to pay special attention to. The main and most important issue for us is creating bridges and synergies. Synergy between those who do good - NGOs, Business - which can help finance these activities and the society that we want to engage, especially since there are clear signals that we want to help, only sometimes we do not know how to do it. For this purpose, in the first phase we created a mobile application - which is to motivate everyone to physical activity. The scheme is very simple. Beneficiaries verified by us show us their need (e.g. support for a campaign to help animals or help digitally excluded children, etc.), Companies support the collection with a marketing budget and everyone can participate in it. We toddle for a given Foundation, we go for a walk with a Sponsor. We take 6,000 steps taking care of our own health, which ends with the display of a sponsor's ad informing about reaching the goal - and the donation for our steps lands in the Foundation's account. And this can be done every day :)

Agnieszka: You emphasize that Movello supports the implementation of the ESG strategy in the company - how?

Dawid: Movello helps companies implement ESG strategies by promoting employee health and well-being, strengthening team bonds and increasing engagement in the company. Through our application, companies can organize sports challenges, the finale of which, apart from good fun, can be supporting charitable activities. We give employees the opportunity to choose which foundation they want to support, which strengthens their sense of influence and responsibility.

Agnieszka: The ESG philosophy also includes the role of business supporting the local community. How does Movello implement this assumption?

Dawid: Movello is more than just a platform - it is a marketplace of local charitable activities.
This approach not only allows companies to support initiatives close to them in a way that is aligned with their strategy and values, but also allows the local community to be involved, encouraging them to actively participate. Employees can decide who they support, which increases their sense of influence and motivation to act. Movello creates an ecosystem where charity, engagement and local needs meet in one place, building strong bonds between companies and the communities in which they operate. This is a true synergy that benefits all parties.

Agnieszka: What strategies have you used in the application to motivate companies to engage in ESG-related activities?

Dawid: Movello supports transparency and measurability of ESG activities, which allows companies to report their achievements in a clear and understandable way for stakeholders. We create not only a platform to support local organizations, but also a tool that makes it easier for companies to communicate about their ESG activities, strengthening their image as responsible and socially engaged. Thanks to Movello, ESG activities are no longer just declarations, but become visible and engaging initiatives that have a real impact on local communities and build lasting relationships between companies and their environment.

Agnieszka: Can you tell us about cooperation with non-profit organizations or foundations? What criteria did you use to select partners to ensure that donations have the maximum positive impact?

David: At Movello, we work with non-profit organizations that are transparent and have a real impact on local communities. We verify each organization by assessing their financial transparency, reporting on their activities, and compliance with local needs. Thanks to this, companies and Movello users can be sure that their support goes exactly where it is needed most, building trust and motivating further involvement. This is not only supporting charitable activities, but also strengthening ties in local communities through responsible and purposeful donations.

Agnieszka: What are Movello's immediate plans and what new functionalities can we expect in the app?

David: We have completed the testing stage, reaching over 100 completed collections and raising over a million złoty. Working with over 200 companies and local governments, we have developed a new generation of the app. The new version will enable monitoring of activity while cycling, which will allow for gamification not only for steps, but also for kilometers traveled. We are also introducing a Social Campaign module. Together with our Partners, we are also creating a nationwide Coalition, the aim of which is to support children in schools, promote integration and pro-health activities, rewarding their efforts with funded prizes. This is a great topic for another conversation!
